For more than half a century, CHF has worked to improve the lives and the communities of impoverished people around the world. Our programs have brought shelter after natural disasters such as the tsunami in Indonesia, provided opportunities for employment – and camaraderie – by creating women’s centers in the refugee camps of Darfur, trained local health workers to ease the last days of HIV/AIDS victims in Rwanda and helped farmers find viable alternatives to illegal drug production in the field of Bolivia. Last year alone, we directly assisted 26 million people, training over 2.5 million people in job skills, providing small business loans to more than a quarter million entrepreneurs and assisting 13,000 families affected by major disasters. At the heart of all of our work is a commitment to teaching local communities the skills they need to improve the future for themselves and for their children. Our extraordinarily talented and dedicated staff members are an integral part of this work.
