Stimulating Enterprise and Prospects for Peace

After almost 15 years of civil conflict, Liberia’s social and economic networks have been shattered. CHF is currently working to revitalize Liberia on both fronts.

Empowering Women Entrepreneurs

CHF International, in partnership with the Goldman Sachs Women’s Entrepreneurship and Leadership Certificate Program, is working with women-owned and women-run enterprises to ensure they gain access to credit in the short term, while building support networks to provide skills and training that will give them access to formal credit facilities over the long term.

With sufficient training, certification and education, these women will be able to access the financing that will enable them to dramatically increase their business and stimulate the Liberian business environment overall.

Revitalizing the Private Sector

CHF is working with RLJ Companies, the U.S. Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) and the African Development Bank to ensure that Liberia’s private sector becomes an engine of sustainable development as it goes forward in years to come. The Liberian Enterprise Development Finance Company (LEDFC) is addressing some of the challenges faced by small- and medium-enterprises by facilitating access to capital and providing business development services to ensure that their ideas will have the greatest chance for success.
